A monthly power bill of $5000? That’s what to expect when you have a holiday display involving 500,000 lights covering over a ½ acre. Since 1977 retired karate school owner and minister, Ted Kresge has been decorating his house at 2719 Oakdale St. South. What started as a modest light display now takes a crew of between 8-15 people to assemble starting on September 1st.

The FREE display is open from 6-10pm nightly from the day after Thanksiving through January 3rd. If you park on the neighborhood streets and venture onto the property you’ll be treated to a computerized light show, yard tour and you can get up close to the 18 train railroad display. The display changes a bit from year to year and most of the lights and displays are donated to Kresge.

The Oakdale Christmas House is located at 2719 Oakdate St. S (off of 4th St. S)
