Layman's Food Review: Mondays Made Better with Meat

Let’s face it, the only good thing about Monday is when it’s over. But now, that ending just got a little sweeter.
It’s not hard to figure us out by now. Anything to do with food and we’re pretty much all over it. So, how in the world could we have lived in the ‘Burg for so long and had never known about this great deal in downtown St. Petersburg’s Cafe Alma is just beyond us. However, just a word of caution before you read further. This review is little on detail and all about the serious red meat lovers.
As if Tuesday’s half price Tapas wasn’t enough, we discovered, thanks to a tip from a good friend, the deal of all you can eat Prime Rib or Crab Legs every Monday for $19 per person. Before you start having flashbacks of the Royal Carribean cruise you took last February, it’s not buffet style nor is it a prime rib and snow crab legs sort of deal. It’s one or the other but those dining together are welcome to share.

Not that we’ve ever had bad prime rib before but it was pretty spectacular. Good au jus and you may find yourself having a hard time getting past the first serving. And while we’ve heard some rumblings on occasion that the crab may have not been as tender as it should be, it was near melt in your mouth good the night we tried it. Both come with a nice serving of veggies and the prime rib with mashed potatoes.
It may not exactly make Mondays the new Friday, but it should make 5pm all that more fun to get to.
Cafe Alma is located at 260 1st Ave S.
